The regulations will remain largely the same for machinery across the Superbike and Superstock events at the 2027 Briggs Equipment North West 200 as the Supersport class adopts the Next Generation-spec. However, the JM Paterson and Maxwell Freight Services Sportbike/Supertwin races will see some significant changes.

With the introduction of Sportbike machinery for 2027, the organisers have decided to allow Supertwin spec machines to continue to compete alongside the new Sportbike machines in both of Saturday’s races.

The Supertwin and Sportbike competitors will start separately within both races, with each class enjoying its own podium and prize fund.

‘Not everyone will necessarily have sufficient time to produce and develop new Sportbike-spec machinery for 2027.’ NW200 Race Director, Mervyn Whyte, said.

‘With so many teams and riders having invested a great deal of time and money in developing Supertwin machinery over many seasons, we felt it was only fair that they should continue to have the opportunity to compete on the Triangle course this year.’

‘After consultation with a number of competitors and teams, it is felt that this joint format will provide the fairest opportunity for everyone involved and will ensure full grids across both races.’

Full details of the regulations for all the race classes at the 2027 Briggs Equipment North West 200 will be published and made available on the official website.
