The Scene Is Set For ‘Bigger…Better…Faster’ – A New NW200 Film From Charley Boorman

North West 200 News

Filming is fully underway for Charley Boorman’s new docudrama ‘Bigger…Better…Faster’ which highlights the magnificence of the North West 200 and explores the history behind one of Northern Ireland’s greatest sporting treasures.

The adventure riding legend and filmmaker extraordinaire has been commissioned by Zerofit – one of his key partners – to produce the film under the directorship of Luke Whatley-Bigg, who previously worked with Charley on the ‘Long Way’ series.

Charley will officially open this year’s NW200 with a parade lap of the 8.9-mile Triangle Course on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 6, alongside fellow Zerofit Ambassador Glenn Irwin.

While the modern-day competitors will feature heavily in the production, Charley will explore and learn about the storied history of the event and pay homage to the heroes of the North West 200, with visits to the Joey Dunlop Memorial Gardens and his iconic Bar in Ballymoney.

Fans will have plenty of opportunities to meet, interact and engage with Charley throughout race week, as he soaks up the atmosphere, talks to supporters, local businesses and the organisers – including Event Director Mervyn Whyte – to fully immerse himself in the wonderful experience of the North West.

He will attend this year’s ‘Meet The Stars’ rider event at Coleraine Town Hall from 1pm on Friday, May 8, before discussing the film at a special ‘Pit Lane Patter Chat Show’ VIP Night later that evening in the Paddock’s Hospitality marquee, and a limited number of tickets are available here.

Producers came to Northern Ireland’s stunning North Coast in April – many of whom for the first time – to capture some of its finest sights, including the Giant’s Causeway, Dunluce Castle and White Rocks Beach, to set the scene for a storytelling masterclass.

As Glenn Irwin returns to the famous Triangle Course two years after becoming the most successful superbike rider in the history of the event, the film will feature interviews with him and his close family, highlighting the reasons for his return and why – ultimately – the lure of competitive road racing at the North West was too much to resist.

Alastair Seeley, who is looking for his 30th victory to extend his record as the most successful rider in the history of the NW200, will also highlight how the race has changed over his quarter of a century competing, and why the yearning for glory keeps him coming back for more.

Intrigue and mystery surrounds short circuit star Storm Stacey ahead of his racing debut at the event, and Charley will delve deep into the mind of one of the most exciting newcomers to the NW200 this century, hearing about the challenges he faces and the excitement he feels competing in Northern Ireland.

Esteemed athletes such as Peter Hickman and Richard Cooper will also feature, as well as compelling grassroots stories from the individuals and teams who are set to compete with the good and the great of the sport.
